Here are a few events that could help you expand your gardening knowledge.
Make pickles. If you have a lot of cucumbers or green beans, then this class if for you. This Saturday the focus of the Preserve the Harvest series is on canning green beans or cucumber dill pickles. 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. sessions (choose one each day), $25 per session; register at 425-257-6039, send an e-mail to register.
Learn to make a rain garden. There are two class times available, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 23; $20 per person or $35 for two people sharing materials; register at 425-357-6039 or get a registration form here. You can see more details here.
Learn about fruit. The Summer Fruit Festival is 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday 16650 State Rt. 536 in Mount Vernon. The event includes lectures about growing and harvesting fruits as well as gardening tours. Learn more and see the schedule here.
Learn about organic gardening. Hunt McLean will present a free program call the Missing Link in Organic Gardening. The event is at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Sky Nursery, 18528 Aurora Avenue North, Shoreline. For more information, you can go here.
