The Everett American Legion post member who stole more than $370,000 from the organization is behind bars.
Richard Charles Ekstedt, 58, of Marysville did not show up in Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Ronald Castleberry’s courtroom Jan. 31 for sentencing. He was arrested late Thursday and booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
Castleberry, obviously irritated at Ekstedt for not showing up, issued a no-bail warrant for his arrest. Ekstedt will serve somewhere between a year and 14 months for the crime for which he pleaded guilty.
He appeared Friday in court. Castleberry has set a Feb. 21 sentencing date.
He had been adjutant record keeper for the Earl Faulkner post and had control of the books. The post had a large sum of money in the bank from the sale of a building in downtown Everett, and most of it was stolen.
