Boards eliminated
The Legislature has approved a measure that would eliminate about four dozen boards and commissions.
The House passed the measure on a 89-3 vote Friday after concurring with changes made by the Senate. It now goes to Gov. Chris Gregoire for final approval.
The State Board on Geographic Names and the Washington Main Street Advisory Committee are among those that would be eliminated. The Senate added back a few, including the Migratory Waterfowl Art Committee, when it passed the measure on a 40-1 vote Thursday.
The measure is expected to save the state nearly $2.6 million through 2015.
The Legislature eliminated 18 boards and commissions last year.
