OLYMPIA — A Joint Base Lewis-McChord has been sentenced to nine months in jail after pleading guilty to shooting up a Rainier home on New Year’s Day following an affair.
The Olympian reported that 25-year-old Eric David Kollar pleaded guilty in June to second-degree assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence.
Thurston County Superior Court Judge Carol Murphy imposed Kollar’s nine-month sentence Monday based on recommendations.
Police said Kollar meant to target a romantic rival’s home, but instead fired eight shot from a .45-caliber Glock into a home adjacent to where the man lived. The man he was originally targeted had an affair with Kollar’s wife while Kollar was in Iraq.
Authorities said Kollar is in the process of being discharged from the military.
Kollar was most recently assigned to group support for the 1st Special Forces Group and has served at least one tour in Iraq.
