Blake Lewis’ busy schedule has him running about 15 minutes late to his parade.
Crowds are eagerly awaiting about eight people deep on Bothell’s Main Street sidewalk for an opportunity to glimpse the hometown idol.
More than one sign being held along the parade route is attempting to point the 25 year old to his biggest fan.
Thousands are expected to cheer on the American Idol finalist. The parade will be followed by a concert at the park at Bothell Landing. Lewis will sing two songs in the half-hour appearance.
“I think it’s the biggest we’ve had,” Bothell Assistant City Manager Manny Ocampo said.
Restaurants, like Alexa’s Cafe, were busier than normal as fans and national media streamed into town.
Three generations of fans, grandma, mom and three girls, staked out a spot for a great view more than two hours before the parade.
“Grandma loves Blake,” Anne Dahlin, 43, of Kenmore said. The family tapes Idol each week, but didn’t want to miss their chance to see their favorite. They feared they hadn’t voted enough for Blake until now, but since he’s got an opportunity to win it all, they plan to light up the phone lines on Tuesday.
“We made a promise we’ll do the max next week,” said Sue Cholewczynski, 70.
