EVERETT — Some parts of Snohomish County could see several inches of snow in time for the Tuesday morning commute.
However, the forecast was dialed back Monday night to most areas expecting a trace to one inch, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle. Hills could see more, and there was a chance the weather system could hover, meaning additional snowfall in the Everett area.
Drivers should be prepared for icy and potentially slushy roads for the next few days, particularly on bridges. Near-freezing weather during the daytime is expected to hang around until Thursday. A storm with rain, snow and wind is possible Thursday, but conditions remain uncertain, the Weather Service reported. Any snow is expected to turn back to rain by Friday.
Snow fell in parts of the county Monday morning, including Lynnwood and Stanwood, but didn’t stick in the lowlands. Emergency cold shelters have opened in Lynnwood and Marysville, among other locations.
