EVERETT — The light snowfall that sprinkled the region last weekend is back, but this time drivers may face slick roads on this morning’s commute.
The snow was expected to begin falling at 3 a.m. today, said Jay Albrecht, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle. About an inch was expected to accumulate.
“We’re not looking at a lot of snow, but even a little bit, if the roads are frozen, can be a problem,” Albrecht said.
The snow could keep falling until 10 or 11 a.m., when it will probably turn to rain, he said.
Lowland areas won’t likely get more than an inch of snow on the ground, Albrecht said. The worst spots could be in south Everett and north Lynnwood. Other areas may end up with just a smattering of snow that won’t have a chance to stick before it begins to rain.
Areas in eastern Snohomish County, such as Darrington and other towns in the Cascade foothills, could get 3 or more inches of snow overnight, Albrecht said.
Overnight temperatures were expected to hover around 30 degrees. High temperatures today could reach 40 degrees.
