WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Rush Limbaugh must submit to random drug tests under an agreement filed Monday that will dismiss a prescription fraud charge against the conservative commentator after 18 months if he complies with the terms.
He also must continue treatment for his acknowledged addiction to painkillers and he cannot own a gun.
The agreement did not call for Limbaugh to admit guilt to the charge that he sought a prescription from a physician in 2003 without revealing that he had received medications from another practitioner within 30 days. He pleaded not guilty Friday.
Limbaugh said that he has been undergoing random drug tests for 21/2 years and “haven’t even craved a painkiller since I got out of rehab.”
Engelbert Humperdinck celebrates 70th birthday
As long as he can sing and dance, says Engelbert Humperdinck, he’ll never be 70 – at least not in his heart.
“I look at people who have turned 70 and I think I don’t feel that way,” the British crooner said with a laugh. “I still dance around onstage and my voice is still strong and everyone in the audience is still screaming.”
The singer, who along with Tom Jones set the standard for deep-voiced pop ballads and bushy sideburns in the 1960s, reaches that milestone birthday today.
He was returning to his hometown of Leicester, England, to celebrate with his family, Humperdinck said by phone from Las Vegas, where he spent the weekend performing.
“We’ll have a meal and champagne and red wine,” he said, adding that he’ll try to stay away from the cake.
“Well, maybe a little piece. I’m on a diet, always on a diet,” he laughed.
Then it’s back on the road for the performer, who does about 120 dates a year.
