The crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln set sail Tuesday, heading out for training.
The aircraft carrier, based at Naval Station Everett, is underway to the coast of Southern California for routine training, exercises and flight deck certification, said Lt. Cmdr. William Marks, the ship’s public affairs officer.
The crew expects to return in about two weeks.
In January, the carrier completed a nine-month $250 million overhaul at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.
Capt. John D. Alexander recently assumed command of aircraft carrier during a change of command ceremony on board the ship.
Alexander relieved commanding officer Capt. Patrick D. Hall, who is departing after nearly three years in command.
