EVERETT — Break out the folding chairs and spandex tights — professional wrestling is coming to the Everett Events Center.
To local wrestling fans, this is big — at least as big as the gargantuan World Wrestling Entertainment stars who will be hulking around the arena on May 16.
Many of the WWE superstars will be on hand for this first appearance at the Everett Events Center, including Chris Benoit, Batista, Edge, Christian, Kane and Chris Jericho.
The wrestlers will gear up to put Everett — and each other — on the ropes for an evening. The show is part of the Raw Live series, which travels to major stadiums and arenas around the world.
The live events provide the content for WWE television and pay-per-view programming. According to the WWE Web site, www.wwe.com, approximately 1.8 million people attended live WWE events in 2003.
WWE, founded as the World Wrestling Federation by Vincent and Linda McMahon more than 20 years ago, has evolved into a heavyweight in American entertainment.
Tickets for Raw Live go on sale at noon April 24. Prices are $21-$41, not including service charges. Children 2 and younger are free.
Tickets can be purchased at the Everett Events Center box office, at www.EverettEventsCenter.com, or by calling 866-332-8499.
