SULTAN – An 80-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed Friday evening as she tried to cross U.S. 2.
The woman, a Sultan resident, was hit near the intersection of Stevens Avenue and U.S. 2 about 5:20 p.m. She died at the scene, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
Her name has not been released pending notification of family.
The driver, a 63-year-old Sultan woman, wasn’t going faster than the 35 mph speed limit, Leary said.
Everett: Man faces charges of theft, fraud
A 33-year-old man accused of billing three King County businesses for thousands of dollars of merchandise faces federal charges of theft and fraud.
The Washington State Patrol and Everett Police Department arrested the man Thursday at his south Everett home. Inside, investigators found appliances and electronics ranging from barbecues to iPods, according to the State Patrol.
The man allegedly used stolen information from the King County businesses to open lines of credit at stores in Snohomish and King counties. He bought more than $60,000 of equipment, according to the patrol.
The man could spend up to eight years in prison, if convicted.
Everett police search for missing teenager
Police are searching for a 16-year-old girl who ran away from home without her medicine.
Julianna Christine Barbour has a medical condition that requires weekly monitoring and medication, according to the Everett Police Department. Her family last saw her a week ago, and she last visited her medical caregivers on Tuesday.
Barbour’s medical risk increases the longer she goes without her prescription medicine. Police would not elaborate on her condition.
She’s 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds, and has black hair and grayish-green eyes.
Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911. Her Everett police report number is DD05-27066.
Marysville: Man struck while crossing street
A 31-year-old man was seriously injured Thursday when he was hit by a car in a crosswalk.
The Shoreline man didn’t wait for the walk signal when he tried to cross State Avenue at the intersection of Grove Street. He was struck by a vehicle driving north, according to the Marysville Police Department.
The man was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Arlington: Reward is offered for info on fire
A $10,000 reward is being offered to whoever can lead investigators to the person responsible for burning down an Arlington furniture factory in October.
The Oct. 30 fire burned Modern Furniture Manufacturers to the ground. The business had been at its 6724 204th St. NE address since 1960 and employed more than 60 people at the time of the fire.
Damage was estimated at $3.5 million.
Officers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Arlington Police Department are working together on the investigation.
