A Mill Creek woman was charged with second-degree assault Friday after admitting she shook her month-old daughter, causing bleeding inside the child’s skull.
Christal Lee Strimple, 22, told a nurse and police that she shook the girl “pretty hard” after becoming frustrated with the child’s crying, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor George Appel said in Superior Court papers.
Strimple admitted shaking the baby after the girl was hospitalized for treatment of seizures connected with the head injury, according to court papers.
Doctors who examined the girl also found evidence of other injuries, including a previous hemorrhage inside the child’s head, a broken collarbone and an elbow injury.
Doctors weren’t sure whether the girl suffered nerve damage, Appel said.
Lynnwood: Biker injured in accident
An Edmonds man was taken to a Seattle hospital Friday after speeding and doing wheelies on his motorcycle before colliding with a vehicle, the Washington State Patrol reported. Suk Suh, 20, was being treated at Harborview Medical Center, but his condition was not known Friday night, a nursing supervisor said. Suh was seen driving erratically about 5:40 p.m. on I-5 before taking the 196th Street SW offramp and passing two vehicles on the shoulder, then losing control and colliding with a 1994 Toyota 4Runner, troopers reported.
Everett: Man arrested after fight at residence
Police arrested a man who allegedly forced his way into an Everett home early Friday and got into a fight with the occupants. The man, 37, entered a house in the 2400 block of 11th Street about 5:30 a.m., yelling “Police!” and claiming he was being pursued, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said. When police arrived, they found no evidence that the man was running from anyone, and he didn’t know the residents of the home, Bryant said. He was arrested on investigation of first-degree burglary and booked into the Snohomish County Jail on $25,000 bail.
