Deputies search for man driving a stolen car
MILL CREEK — Snohomish County sheriff deputies spent about an hour Monday looking for a man who was driving a car that was reported stolen in Seattle, officials said.
The man got out of the car near the Millwood Estates Apartments in the 16600 block of Sixth Avenue W, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
Deputies used a police dog to search the area, she said. Troopers in a Washington State Patrol airplane also helped in the search.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office tip line at 425-388-3845.
Everett: Vandals ruin holiday light displays
Vandals on Sunday night or Monday morning apparently ruined several holiday light displays in the Fir Grove neighborhood, where neighbors decorate yards and homes to help raise money for a good cause, one neighbor said.
Decorations were broken, smashed and pulled off yards and into the streets, said Patricia Bauman, who lives in the 2100 block of 101st Street SE.
“This was just terrible destruction and vandalism,” she said.
The Fir Grove neighborhood in south Everett has a 20-year tradition of decorating with Christmas lights, handing out candy canes and collecting food for Volunteers of America’s Everett Food Bank. The effort usually raises thousands of dollars and brings in tons of food, a Volunteers of America spokesman said.
The neighborhood is off 19th Avenue SE on 100th Street SE near the Silver Lake Costco store.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said deputies will increase patrols in the area, Bauman said.
Marysville: Accident victim identified
The King County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 19-year-old man who died Sunday after a car accident that occurred late Saturday in Marysville.
Cory Jackson of Stanwood, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after his vehicle slid into oncoming traffic on 100th St. NE in Marysville. He died of multiple injuries suffered in the accident, according to the medical examiner’s office. The incident was ruled an accident.
