King County announced Tuesday that it will issue a supplement to the environmental impact statement it used to pick south Snohomish County on Highway 9 as the site for its new Brightwater sewage treatment plant.
The county will use the new review to take a closer look at a recently discovered earthquake fault under the site.
Critics say the fault is reason enough for King County to select a new site, but the county won’t move its plant, said Christie True, Brightwater project director.
She said the supplemental impact statement will be used to simply identify what King County needs to do to make sure the $1.48 billion plant is earthquake safe at the site near Highway 9 and Highway 522.
The public will be offered a chance to comment on the new environmental review when it is released in late February or early March.
