MALTBY – An accident at Quality Machine Staining in Maltby seriously injured an employee Monday, firefighters said.

The man was pinned against a vat of paint that apparently slid off a table, said Snohomish County Fire District 7 Deputy Chief Jim Evans. Employees pulled the steel container off the man before firefighters arrived at QMS, 21421 87th Ave. SE, shortly before 10:20 a.m.

The man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His condition was not released because of a federal health privacy law.

Darrington: Motorcycle crash victim identified

A motorcyclist who died after colliding with a truck Saturday has been identified as Robert P. Carrigan of Sammamish. Carrigan, 50, died at the scene of the crash. The accident occurred about 12:15 p.m. on Seemann Street, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. His death was an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Arlington: Lake Ki drowning victim named

A man who died at Lake Ki on Thursday has been identified as William Vastbinder. The man, 59, who reportedly swam at the lake daily, was found in about 12 feet of water by his family, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said. He died at the scene. The cause of his death is under investigation, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Machias: Autopsy done, but name not released

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed an autopsy on the body of a woman found in the Pilchuck River on Friday. The woman’s name was not released Monday. Her death is being investigated as a homicide, but police have not disclosed how she died. Sheriff’s detectives found the body during their search for a woman reported missing from a home in the 200 block of Machias Road. They’re investigating whether the body is the missing woman, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Jorgensen said.
