Everett: Dog found dead inside car trunk

A dead yellow Labrador-like dog was found inside the trunk of a car parked at a Broadway shopping center Thursday afternoon.

Police found the dog after witnesses reported seeing a car with its doors, trunk and hood open, Everett Police Sgt. David Fudge said. They also spotted a distraught man around the car.

The man was gone when police arrived. An officer discovered the dead dog in the car.

Police found the dog’s owner, who told officers that the dog had died and he was driving around trying to find a place to bury it.

It wasn’t clear why the man left the car and dog behind.

An animal control officer was called to remove the dog, which was placed under a yellow tarp in the parking lot.

The boy, 17, was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with head injuries, Washington State Patrol spokesman trooper Lance Ramsay said.

Motorists reported seeing the boy driving erratically before the accident, Ramsay said. Alcohol or drugs might have been a factor in the crash, he said.

The highway was closed for a couple of hours while troopers investigated the accident.

Police arrested a man for allegedly robbing an espresso stand in July.

On July 17, a man who implied he had a weapon robbed Kim’s Koffee in the 16800 block of Smokey Point Boulevard.

Police got a description of the suspect, and a Marysville police dog searched for him, but he wasn’t found.

Wednesday night, police arrested a man, 23, for violating a protection order. While he was being transported to the Marysville jail, he told the officer he had served time for robbing an espresso stand in the past, according to Police Chief John Gray.

The officer noticed that the suspect matched the description of the suspect who robbed Kim’s Koffee.

A barista was able to pick the man out of photo lineup, Gray said.

He was arrested and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree robbery.
