ARLINGTON – A 21-year-old Arlington man died Sunday after his car collided with another car on Highway 9, the State Patrol reported.
The accident took place about 1:49 a.m. near the highway’s intersection with 132nd Street NE south of Arlington. The two cars were heading south when one of them went onto the shoulder to avoid the other. They collided with each other, and then one of them rolled and landed on the left side of the road.
The identification of the 21-year-old man, who drove one of the two cars, was not disclosed pending notification of his family. He died after being transported to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby campus in Everett.
His passenger, Ryan Tucker, 18, of Arlington was injured and taken to Cascade Hospital in Arlington. Tucker’s condition was unknown as of Sunday evening.
Shenequay Young, 23, of Lynnwood was the other car’s driver. She was not injured.
The accident’s cause was under investigation.
Lake Stevens: Teen cyclist, car collide
A bicyclist was taken to a hospital after striking the side of a car on Sunday afternoon southwest of Lake Stevens, according to the State Patrol.
The accident took place about 4:54 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 9 and Market Place.
Kory Archer, 15, was transported to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby campus in Everett.
Brandon Ratchford, 23, of Boardman, Ore., was driving south on the highway and trying to make a left turn onto Market Place when cyclist hit the side of his car. Ratchford was not injured.
The boy’s condition was not available as of Sunday evening.
