Teen injured in industrial accident
ARLINGTON — A teenager was seriously injured Friday when his legs were trapped in a piece of industrial equipment at National Food Corporation.
It took Arlington and Marysville firefighters more than an hour to pull the man, 19, free from the machinery, Arlington Assistant City Administrator Kristin Banfield said.
The equipment is used to remove debris from chicken cages.
The man first got one foot stuck in the machine and attempted to use his other foot to pry himself loose, Banfield said. Both legs became trapped. One was stuck just above his knee and the other was trapped about halfway up his shin, Banfield said.
The man was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His prognosis was not immediately available, Banfield said.

A motorcycle driver was injured and power was knocked in south Arlington out after two accidents on 172nd Street NE on Friday.
The first accident, which involved a motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle, happened about 5:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of 172nd Street NE.
The motorcyclist was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center Colby campus, Arlington Assistant City Administrator Kristin Banfield said.
After the first accident, a car veered off 172nd Street NE while trying to avoid crashing into a line of vehicles that was stopped by the first accident.
The car collided with a power pole, knocking out power to the area, Banfield said.
The road was expected to be closed until about 9 p.m., and power was expected to be restored around 8 p.m., Banfield said.

Bail remained at $1 million Friday for an Everett man jailed in connection with a violent south Everett rape.
Larry Donnell Baker, 34, pleaded not guilty to a first-degree rape charge filed earlier in the week in Snohomish County Superior Court. Defense lawyer Anna Goykhman of Everett said she would reserve the right to argue about lower bail for Baker.
A Nov. 30 trial date was set, although that’s likely to be continued.
Baker was linked to the sexual assault from comparisons of DNA from Baker and genetic material left by the rapist, documents said.
