Reward offered in fatal shooting case in Everett
EVERETT — A reward is being offered for information about the June 27 shooting death of a man on W. Casino Road.
Jose Luis Gutierrez-Martinez, 24, was gunned down about 9 p.m. in the courtyard of an apartment building in the 900 block of W. Casino Road.
Detectives continue to search for leads, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
“Hopefully we can get something going,” with the reward, he said.
Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or prosecution of whoever shot and killed Gutierrez-Martinez.
A second man was shot in the thigh during the incident. The man told investigators he, Gutierrez-Martinez and a third man went to the apartment to buy drugs, according to court documents. Detectives found what appeared to be drugs in Gutierrez-Martinez’s clothes, police wrote.
Witnesses told police they saw two men run from the area and drive away in a 1987 Acura Legend. The car was found about six blocks away. Police found a glass bong inside.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).
Granite Falls: Teen injured in car crash
A 16-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a car crash Sunday.
The boy was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old boy, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. The older boy suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, Hover said.
The crash happened just before 3 p.m. on Green Mountain Road. Investigators believe that speed was likely a factor in the crash, Hover said.
An update of the 16-year-old boy’s condition was not available Monday and no other details were released.
Mukilteo: Man pleads not guilty to rape
A 44-year-old Mukilteo sex offender pleaded not guilty Monday to a second-degree attempted child rape charge in connection with an Internet sting operated by a detective who posed as a 12-year-old boy.
Phillip Lowell Stordahl was being held on $50,000 bail.
Stordahl was arrested by Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives last week when he showed up at a Mukilteo restaurant, where prosecutors allege that the defendant agreed to meet the fictitious youngster.
Deputy prosecutor Craig Matheson alleged that the meeting was set up after Stordahl and the detective exchanged sexually explicit computer messages. The charge was filed in Snohomish County Superior Court. Stordahl has a federal conviction of possessing child pornography, Matheson said.
