Police seek answers on man found in road

BOTHELL — Police are still investigating how a man was injured and left in the middle of a road Friday.

Someone called 911 about 5:15 a.m. to report that there was a man lying in the 100 block of 228th Street SW, Bothell Sgt. Elmer Brown said.

The Kirkland man, 21, had head and upper body injuries, Brown said. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was in the intensive care unit.

Investigators don’t know if the man was hit by a vehicle or what caused his injuries. They are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to call the tip line at 425-487-5551.

Everett: Police seeking two suspects

Police have released photos of two men who have been charged with first-degree murder in the August death of a man who was shot in the head at close range in Everett.

Tsegazeab A. Zerahaimanot, 23, of Mountlake Terrace and Steven Lavelle Lee, 25, of Everett are wanted in connection with the death of Forrest Starrett, 48, of Marysville. His body was found Aug. 21 next to a Ford Ranger pickup in a parking lot in the 8700 block of Holly Drive.

A Snohomish County Superior Court judge Thursday signed $1 million arrest warrants for the two suspects.

Anyone who sees either suspect is asked to call 911 immediately. People should not attempt to stop the suspects, who should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the shooting is asked to call the Everett Police Department tip line at 425-257-8450.

Camano Island: Deputy charged

A veteran Snohomish County sheriff’s sergeant has been charged with two counts of telephone harassment.

Sgt. Michael Thompson, 40, pleaded not guilty earlier this week to allegations that he made a harassing phone call to a man and the man’s estranged wife, Island County Prosecutor Greg Banks said.

Thompson is on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation by Snohomish County sheriff’s officials, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover.

He was put on leave on Aug. 23. Thompson has been with the sheriff’s office for 18 years.

“We take this very seriously. We’re conducting our own internal investigation,” Hover said.

A man complained to Island County sheriff’s deputies that on Aug. 22 Thompson made a threatening phone call to him after he told Thompson’s wife that Thompson was having an affair with the man’s estranged wife, Banks said. Thompson also allegedly made a harassing phone call to the man’s estranged wife, Banks said.

The case is scheduled to go to trial Dec. 10.

Seattle: Three men sentenced

Three Snohomish County men will spend time in prison for their involvement in a pharmacy burglary ring centered in the county.

Michael McConnell, 26, and Alex Brand, 23, both of Everett, and Corey Marquardt, 28, of Marysville were sentenced Friday in federal court in Seattle.

McConnell was ordered to spend two years in prison for burglarizing a pharmacy in Oregon in 2004. The stolen prescription medications were brought back to Washington and sold here, according to court records. Brand was sentenced to 15 months in prison for illegally distributing prescription drugs, including oxycodone, an addictive pain reliever. Marquardt was sentenced to 4½ months behind bars for illegally selling prescription drugs.

All three men also were sentenced to three years of federal supervision once they’re released from prison.
