Lynnwood: Coach pleads guilty to rape
A former Lynnwood youth basketball coach pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree child rape and child molestation in connection with sexual contact with four children, deputy Snohomish County prosecutor Mark Roe said.
Andrew Lee Kortegard, 32, of Lynnwood is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 10 in Superior Court. Roe said he will recommend at least an 11-year prison term.
Kortegard had been a basketball and soccer coach and a referee at the Alderwood Boys &Girls Club in south Snohomish County, according to court documents. He underwent a background check when he volunteered for coaching, but had no previous felony convictions, officials said.
