EVERETT — Students were allowed back into Everett High School around noon Monday after a bomb threat forced an evacuation that halted classes for part of the morning, officials said.
Police searched the school after the threat was called in about 11 a.m., said Mary Waggoner, an Everett school district spokeswoman. No bomb was found.
Students were forced to stand outside during a hail storm while police investigated, she said.
“The kids were being good sports” under the circumstances, Waggoner said
Once the gym was cleared, students were allowed to go inside while officials searched the remainder of the building.
Anyone with information about who might be responsible for the bomb threat is asked to call the Everett School District tip line at 425-385-5050.
Mountlake Terrace: Man robs restaurant
Police said they are looking for a man who used a gun to rob a Mountlake Terrace teriyaki restaurant Friday night.
The man walked up to the counter about 8:20 p.m. at the business in the 21200 block of 44th Avenue W., Mountlake Terrace police Sgt. Doug Hansen said.
The man pulled out a gun and demanded money. An employee opened the register and the man grabbed the cash. In the ensuing melee, the gun’s trigger was pulled but it did not fire, Hansen said. Police believe the gun either wasn’t loaded or wasn’t real.
Two people were eating in the restaurant at the time. Surveillance video captured some footage of the man, Hansen said.
The suspect is described as black and in his 20s, around 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and had a black scarf pulled over his face, Hansen said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Mountlake Terrace police at 425-670-8260.
