LYNNWOOD — An early morning kitchen fire caused about $15,000 damage to a Lynnwood restaurant, officials said.
Firefighters from three departments battled the blaze at Billy McHale’s in the 18400 block of 33rd Avenue W., said Lynnwood Fire spokeswoman Marybeth O’Leary.
Crews were alerted to the blaze around 6:45 a.m. after the building’s sprinkler system was activated, she said. A restaurant employee also called 911 to report smoke coming from the kitchen.
It took about 45 minutes to put the fire out, O’Leary said.
No one was injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Marysville: Guilty plea in fatal crash
A 22-year-old Marysville man pleaded guilty Wednesday to vehicular homicide in connection with the death of a passenger in the car he was driving on March 19, 2006.
Prosecutors accused Jeffrey Brandon Tait, 22, of driving drunk on 172nd Street NE. Tait is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 10. He is facing three years or more in prison.
Prosecutors accused Tait of driving when his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit of .08.
The car had been heading east on 172nd Street NE. It crossed into the oncoming lane and drifted off the road into a ditch. The car continued, rolled over several times and came to rest in front of a home, according to court documents.
The passenger, Jacob Dubois, 24, of Arlington was taken to a hospital, where he died.
