Man’s death was accidental, police say
MILL CREEK — Police determined that a Mill Creek man accidentally shot and killed himself on Sunday.
The man, 20, likely was playing with a gun when the firearm went off inside his Mill Creek apartment, said Robin Swanson, Mill Creek police spokeswoman.
Five other people, including four juveniles, were in the apartment at the time and fled after the shooting, according to a search warrant. They later returned and cooperated with police, Swanson said.
One boy, 17, was arrested after police discovered that he had a backpack full of drugs, she said.
Gold Bar: Fire in RV blamed on fridge
A refrigerator sparked a fire in a recreational vehicle Thursday morning in Gold Bar, causing about $20,000 in damage, officials said.
The fire was spotted just after 10 a.m. in the Gold Bar Nature Trails Camping Club in the 16400 block of May Creek Road, said Mike Makela, a fire investigator with the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office.
The blaze was quickly extinguished and nobody was hurt.
The fire was ruled an accident, Makela said.
Granite Falls: Woman suspected in shooting
A woman is suspected of shooting her boyfriend in the hip during an argument early Thursday morning near Granite Falls, police said.
The man, 56, was treated and released at Providence Everett Medical Center, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The woman, 40, was arrested and was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
The dispute occurred around 1:40 a.m. in the 11900 block of 167th Drive NE, Hover said.
The man called 911 and told dispatchers his girlfriend had fired three shots at him, she said.
One of the bullets apparently hit him in the hip.
