MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Police are looking for a suspect in an armed robbery early Tuesday morning at an apartment in the 21800 block of 68th Ave W.
Around 1:40 a.m., a woman, 32, opened the front door of her home and was confronted by a man who had a skinny, long handgun, Mountlake Terrace police Sgt. Doug Hansen said.
The woman ran through her home while the man shouted at her that she was going to die, Hansen said.
The woman saw the man leave in a newer, silver Mitsubishi, he said. A woman also was in the getaway car.
Police learned a purse, cash and several bottles of prescription drugs were taken, Hansen said. The woman in the apartment wasn’t hurt.
Detectives are interviewing her. She told police she may know the man.
The man is described as white, around 6 feet tall, 220 pounds or more, with brown hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call Mountlake Terrace police at 425-670-8260.
Lynnwood: Man captured after chase
A Bellevue man upset over a recent breakup with his girlfriend led police on a chase through south Snohomish County early Tuesday crashing through chain-link fences and construction sites.
The man, 38, was pulled over for driving with expired tabs but as soon as he stopped his car, he drove away, according to court documents.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies said they made the initial stop near the intersection of 164th Street SW and 36th Avenue W.
The man sped off and made a U-turn through someone’s yard before getting on I-5. He reached 90 mph before merging onto I-405 and getting off the freeway at Canyon Park, the documents said.
Deputies called off the pursuit when it became too dangerous to follow him. They spotted him again on I-405 and chased him into Bothell. That’s where he headed toward the University of Washington’s Bothell campus, crashed through the construction fence and continued. At one point he allegedly almost crashed into a deputy.
Police lost the man when he drove into a steep construction area off Highway 522. He was picked up later walking along the highway, the documents said.
The man allegedly told police he fled because “everyone in his family is dying and his girlfriend of six years had left him.”
Police found a gram of suspected methamphetamine in the man’s backpack.
He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for traffic warrants and for investigation of attempting to elude police, attempted second-degree assault and drug possession.

A head-on collision sent one person to the hospital by helicopter and closed all lanes of Highway 20 in Oak Harbor for several hours Tuesday.
The two-car crash occurred about 11:40 a.m. just north of Hoffman Road, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Police don’t know why one car crossed the centerline and smashed into the other, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
The driver who caused the accident was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries. The driver’s condition was not immediately known.
The driver of the other car, a woman, 61, and her passenger, a girl, 4, were taken to a hospital as a precaution, Leary said.
