EVERETT — Deputies had to close the Silver Lake swim area as they looked for a burglary suspect Wednesday afternoon.
Around 3:15 p.m. a man came home and caught a burglar in his home at the corner of 124th Street SE and Meridian Avenue, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
The burglar ran and deputies believed he got away with the homeowner’s gun, Hover said.
Witnesses told police they saw a man jump in Silver Lake when the sheriff’s helicopter flew overhead. The man came out of the water and was arrested, Hover said.
Deputies had to close I-5 near 112th Street as they searched the wooded median for the stolen gun, she said.
Boeing machine fire produces lots of smoke
No injuries were initially reported after a machine caught fire and produced a lot of smoke Wednesday evening at Boeing’s Everett plant.
About 8 p.m., Everett Fire Department crews were called to assist the Boeing fire department after the machine fire was reported, Everett Fire Marshal Glen Martinsen said.
The large building at the plant where the fire occurred was evacuated and Everett fire crews searched several floors. They verified that no one was in the building, Martinsen said.
