The following students were awarded college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation program:
Jensen Turner, of Everett, who attends Lakeside School in Seattle, received a scholarship from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Timothy Ross, a homeschool student from Snohomish, received a scholarship from the University of Alabama.
Alexander Surkov, who attends Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish, received a scholarship from Michigan State University.
The college-sponsored awards follow earlier announcements for $2,500 National Merit and corporate-sponsored awards.
Students qualified for the program based on their scores on the 2016 Preliminary SAT. Of the more than 22,000 students who took the test, about 7,500 received scholarships.
