INDEX — No injuries were reported after a log truck rolled on U.S. 2 near Index on Wednesday morning.
The wreck was reported just before 9 a.m. in the westbound side of the highway.
A log truck with a full load was turning onto the highway from a Forest Service road, said trooper Keith Leary with the Washington State Patrol. Logs spilled over the guardrail and down an embankment. No other cars were involved.
Traffic was slowed for several hours as troopers investigated and got the logs cleaned up.
The west side of the highway was reopened around 12:30 p.m., Leary said. The crash remains under investigation.
“We are lucky the load did not slide farther down, as the Skykomish River is at the bottom of the embankment,” he said.
