Gay Lynne Nixon, a teacher for many years in the Edmonds School District, will be honored at a memorial event Sunday evening at the Swedish Club in Seattle.
Nixon was the wife of Ed Nixon, brother of the late President Richard Nixon. She died Jan. 20 at the couple’s Lynnwood home. She was 76, and had Alzheimer’s disease.
Sunday’s memorial is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. at the Swedish Club, 1920 Dexter Ave. N., Seattle. All who knew her through her education career, music and other areas are welcome.
A math teacher, she started with the Edmonds district in 1967 and retired in 1995 from Lynnwood High School.
Gay Nixon was a musician who performed with the Seattle-based Finnish folk group Northwest Pelimannit. Along with her husband, she is survived by daughters Amelie “Amy” Peiffer, of Kent, and Elizabeth “Beth” Matheny, of Everett.
