Democrat Liz Loomis is well on her way to Olympia.
When Republicans successfully unseated her as mayor of Snohomish in 2005 – remember the coloring book attack – she took a breather to work, marry and regain her political footing.
She didn’t stop thinking about elected office. While Rep. John Lovick campaigned for Snohomish County sheriff, she gathered support from those who could help her get the appointment to replace him.
Saturday she demonstrated her mettle, emerging from a confab of county Democrats as the heavy favorite to fill Lovick’s seat in the 44th Legislative District.
She’s preparing for a battle to hold the seat in the 2008 elections. As of Saturday, Loomis had raised $15,250 for that campaign. No Republican has publicly declared as a candidate for the position.
