BOTHELL — A large electrical transformer separated from a tow truck early Thursday, blocking westbound traffic on Highway 524 for more than 12 hours.
The problem occurred at 1:15 a.m. three miles east of Bothell near Broadway Avenue, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Crews flagged drivers through the scene, used alternating one-way traffic in the eastbound lanes and detoured them to 35th Avenue SE, according to the department.
The transformer was reloaded onto another trailer, and the highway reopened to two-way traffic at around 1:45 p.m.
Everett
Robber sought: Everett police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who robbed the Silver Lake branch of Washington Mutual Bank.
The man, armed with a handgun, robbed the bank at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant said.

Community meeting: The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office is releasing information about a Level 3 registered sex offender living in the 22600 block of Yeager Road in Monroe.
Christopher John Tanner, 31, was convicted in 1991 of first-degree rape and first-degree robbery. He’s also been convicted of drug-related crimes and property crimes, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office plans a community meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Frank Wagner Elementary School, 115 Dickerson Road in Monroe.
Tanner is white, 6 feet 1 inch tall , 175 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
