Amber Forsman remembers the date she first saw Scott Campbell. It was June 14, 2002. She was out with friends when the group ran into Scott and his friends.
“I thought he was really cute,” Amber said.
Scott seemed shy. It was like pulling teeth to get him to talk, Amber said. By the end of the night, however, the two had swapped phone numbers.
The next night was their first official date together. Scott took Amber to a Honda Prelude car club event.
“It wasn’t a real intimate date,” Amber said. “That car is now stored in my grandfather’s shop.”
Amber can’t explain when or how she knew that Scott was the one for her. He was the first person that she could really picture herself growing old with.
When he took a job in Wyoming in 2004, Amber was heartbroken but very proud of Scott. She knew their relationship could survive the long distance.
Scott came home for a visit in December. Amber took him to their favorite resort. It was there, the day before Scott’s birthday that he gave Amber sapphire earrings as part of her Christmas gift.
“He was asking if I liked them and he said, ‘They would go well with this,’” Amber said. “He pulled out the ring. I was so floored.”
Amber Forsman of Arlington and Scott Campbell of Pinedale, Wyo., plan a May 5 wedding at Magnolia Hall in Arlington.
Their parents are Jef and Pam Forsman of Arlington and Dennis and Carol Campbell of North Las Vegas, Nev.
Amber is a 2000 graduate of Arlington High School and a 2006 graduate of Western Washington University.
Scott is a 1998 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School. He works in Wyoming.
Amber says that the long distance element to their relationship has been hard.
“The toughest part for me is to say goodbye at the airport,” Amber said. “It doesn’t get easier.”
When Scott left the last time, Amber knew she wouldn’t see him until two days before their wedding. Until then, the couple call each other and exchange e-mail. The couple will live in Wyoming after the wedding.
Amber describes Scott as very quiet with the most wonderful smile. She says he is very sweet and funny.
“There aren’t enough words to tell you how much I love him. He means so much to me,” Amber said. “I love him so completely.”
