Love Story: Vickie Taylor and Danny Beeman

Everyone knew Danny Beeman.

Vickie Taylor met him when she ran the store room at Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County. He would come in and get his supplies.

On the day he was leaving his position Danny went to the store room to hand in his work things. He asked Vickie out on a date.

“He wasn’t my type. I thought he was a player,” Vickie said. “I would just never date a guy like that.”

Vickie usually went for tall, dark and handsome guys. Danny had blonde Sammy Hagar hair. He was a sweet talker and very charming.

But what sold Vickie on going on the date was that Danny told her he had a puppy, a French mastiff named Caesar. She loved dogs had been involved with 4-H for six years.

“I just wanted to see the dog,” Vickie said.

On their date the couple went to listen to music at Everett’s waterfront. They danced and had dinner.

Vickie and Danny began going skiing together and took salsa dancing classes. When the plants died in her apartment from inattention she knew she would move to Woodinville from Everett to be with Danny.

“I knew he was the one,” Vickie said.

Vickie B. Taylor and Danny A. Beeman, both of Woodinville, plan an Aug. 8 wedding in Las Vegas, Nev.

Their parents are Emma and Gary Gardner of Mountlake Terrace, Enga-Lill Arneson of Sweden, and Effie and Dean Beeman of Fresno, Calif.

Vickie is a buyer at Providence Everett Medical Center. Danny is a physical therapist at Providence Hospice and Home Care of Bellevue.

Vickie had told herself that if a guy didn’t know if he wanted to marry her within two years of a relationship, then she should review the situation.

One evening after having turkey together, Vickie and Danny took the wishbone and she made a wish. Vickie got the big end of the wishbone and wrote down her wish for Danny to ask her to marry him on 7-7-2007. She didn’t tell him what she had written.

When the couple took a trip to Sweden to visit Danny’s mother for her 70th birthday, Vickie’s luggage got lost. After getting some new clothes, the couple rented bikes and rode out to an island. They walked to a dock. Danny was acting strangely.

Danny suggested he and Vickie sit at the water for a while.

“He was acting weird,” Vickie said.

Danny was sweating and Vickie thought maybe they should get some water. It was just then that he got down and asked her to marry him. The date was close to the one Vickie had wished for the night they split the wishbone.

“I got really lucky,” Vickie said. “We get along so great.”

Vickie describes Danny as kind and a big soft teddy bear with a big heart. He is a people-pleaser who would give anyone the shirt off his back. Vickie says that if she mentions his name to those who might know him, they say “Oh, Danny …”

“I call him my social butterfly,” she said.

Vickie is looking forward to traveling with Danny — and to growing old with him. No matter what happens, she has his back and will always be there.

Vickie says she loves Danny a whole bunch. “He probably has not a clue,” she said.
