MUKILTEO — A fire of undetermined origin at a lumberyard Saturday night caused damage estimated at $60,000 to stacked siding.
The fire was reported about 5:30 p.m. at a wholesale cedar business in the 3100 block of York Road just north of the Mukilteo Speedway, Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said. Firefighters arrived to find a 40-foot-by-10-foot stack of cedar siding ablaze.
District 1 and Mukilteo firefighters kept the fire from spreading to nearby stacks of lumber and siding. They used a forklift to pull apart each bundle and douse it with water.
The business owner had no insurance, she said.
