LYNNWOOD — A man believed responsible for Sunday’s shooting at a Lynnwood apartment complex has been charged with murder.
A judge Thursday afternoon signed a $1 million arrest warrant for Michael Ray V. Mitchell II, 25. Mitchell is accused of fatally shooting Armond G. Davidson, 22, on Sunday. He was charged in Everett District Court with second-degree murder.
Mitchell had not been arrested by late Thursday afternoon.
Investigators believe Mitchell shot Davidson during a dispute involving several other people, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor John Stansell wrote.
Detectives say the shooting happened after two women arranged to fight each other on Sunday. The women both have children from the same father and the situation has created tension between them, Stansell wrote.
The women each brought friends with them to the fight outside the Lynnwood apartment. Investigators believe Davidson was part of one woman’s entourage; Mitchell was with the rival’s group.
Witnesses said some of the young women began harassing Davidson. He spat at one of the women and she spat back. Then the women began assaulting Davidson, Stansell wrote.
Investigators were told Mitchell got out of a car, pulled out a gun and shot Davidson once. He and his friends then drove off.
On Tuesday, a Snohomish County sheriff’s detective received a phone call from an attorney who said he represents Mitchell. The detective told the attorney that there was probable cause to arrest Mitchell in connection with the shooting. The attorney agreed to talk to his client and call the detective back, Stansell wrote.
The attorney later called the detective and told him that Mitchell didn’t want to immediately surrender, but would think about doing so in the next few days.
Mitchell is black, 5 feet 10 inches tall and 200 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair. He may live in the Shoreline area.
Police ask anyone with information about Mitchell’s whereabouts to call 911 or the sheriff’s tip line at 425-388-3845.
