LYNNWOOD — Two people were injured, one seriously, when their 1974 Volkswagen collided with another car late Sunday night and rolled over before coming to a stop in the median of I-5 near 164th Street SW, the Washington State Patrol reported Monday.
Michael A. Chaparro, 25, of Everett remained in serious condition Monday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He suffered multiple injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said.
A passenger in his car, Kristina E. Harris, 19, of Oak Harbor, was in satisfactory condition at Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus.
A trooper’s report says both vehicles had been traveling south about 11:45 p.m. when one changed lanes and the two collided. Both left the freeway, but the Volkswagen rolled over before coming to rest on its wheels.
ATV crash victim identified: The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the victim of an all terrain vehicle accident that happened Sunday. Richard Barendrick, 50, died Sunday of blunt force trauma to the neck and chest. He was driving an ATV on the P-5000 Road near Granite Falls when it went over a 14-foot embankment and crashed into a tree. His ATV fell on him and he died at the scene.
