LYNNWOOD — Lynnwood firefighters spent the night keeping watch at the site a two-alarm house fire that sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries Monday night.
The fire started about 7:30 p.m. in the 18200 block of 56th Avenue W., Lynnwood Police Department spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.
Crews put down flare-ups and hot spots through the night and early morning.
A man who lived in the house was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available.
Late on Monday, fire engines still were parked by the two-story house. A trail of foam firefighters used to cool the fire began in the yard and led to the doorway.
The fire that ripped through the home hours earlier was hot and fast, officials said.
Stacks of flammable items filled the living room, preventing firefighters from getting in. The items stored in the living room melted together. Crews cut a hole through the roof to fight the blaze.
In the backyard, firefighters’ boots crunched on broken glass that fell from the top-floor window.
A dog and two cats were missing.
Fire investigators were expected at the house this morning to try to determine what caused the blaze.
