LYNNWOOD — A two-alarm fire early Friday morning heavily damaged a home east of Lynnwood and displaced a family of four.
Three dogs died in the fire. A fourth dog made it out safely.
The fire was reported around 1:40 a.m. at a single-story house in the 17000 block of 13th Ave. W. The residents, a couple and their two young children, discovered the fire after they were awakened by a loud bang. They safely got out of the house.
The house was in flames by the time the first South County Fire crews arrived from the Martha Lake Fire Station less than a block away. Firefighters had to attack the blaze from outside because fire conditions made it too dangerous to enter the structure, fire district spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said. No one was injured.
The house is considered a total loss, Hynes said. Damage is expected to total more than $200,000.
Red Cross and Support 7 assisted the family. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office reported that the fire appeared to be accidental and might have started in the attic. The exact cause was undetermined Friday.
Firefighters from South County Fire, Snohomish County Fire District 7 and Everett Fire Department were at the fire scene.
