VERLOT – Police arrested a Lynnwood man Wednesday who was wanted in connection with dumping a woman’s body in a wooded area east of Granite Falls last summer.
The man, 51, and another man, 36, were charged in April with unlawful disposal of human remains, a misdemeanor, in Cascade District Court.
The older man was arrested on an outstanding warrant connected to the case. He was released from jail Thursday.
The younger man is wanted by police for the outstanding charge, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
The men reportedly left the body of Lori Ruth Emr-Knowles, 48, in a wooded area about 40 yards from a gravel road leading to Mount Pilchuck lookout trail, according to court records.
The men told police they picked up Emr-Knowles in Lynnwood and then bought some heroin. They told investigators Emr-Knowles died soon after taking the drug, according to deputy prosecutor Randall Yates.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office couldn’t determine how Emr-Knowles died, according to court records.
The men told police they were too scared to report her death.
They drove to the rural road, where they left her body, court records show.
A couple searching for shell casings discovered the remains under a plastic swimming pool.
