The Lynnwood Transportation Benefit District board plans to discuss the aftermath of the defeat of a tax proposal at a special board meeting in January.
Proposition 1, which would have raised sales taxes in the city by 0.2 cents per dollar to pay for streets, sidewalks and other transportation projects, was trailing by a 53 percent to 47 percent margin in ballots counted through Monday, with only a few votes left to be counted before final certification of the election Tuesday.
The TBD board, made up of the seven members of the Lynnwood City Council, had been expected to discuss what to do after the defeat when the board met Nov. 19, but the item wasn’t on the meeting agenda.
City Council President and Board Chairman Loren Simmonds said Friday, Nov. 21, that the board will set a January date to discuss what to do next.
