The Lynnwood Transportation Benefit District Board will meet Wednesday to discuss possible ways to pay for transportation improvements.
The board, made up of the seven members of the Lynnwood City Council, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the City Hall.
The agenda includes discussion of a ballot measure for a future election. Such a measure could ask Lynnwood city voters to approve an increase in the sales tax rate, an increase in the city vehicle-registration tax or a decrease in the vehicle tax to offset another tax.
Board Chairman and Council President Loren Simmonds said Monday that if the board decides to put a measure on the November ballot, it will need to decide within 30 days in order to meet the Aug. 4 deadline for submission to the county auditor’s office.
Last fall, Lynnwood voters defeated a measure that would have raised sales taxes in the city to support improvements to streets and sidewalks. The November 2014 ballot proposition lost by a 53 percent to 47 percent margin.
