Lynnwood woman escapes fire uninjured

LYNNWOOD – A fire destroyed a home in the 18700 block of Larch Way east of Lynnwood Sunday afternoon.

No one was injured in the fire. A woman was in the house when the fire was reported shortly after 5 p.m. and got out safely, said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.

The cause of the fire was not known Sunday, but was believed to be accidental, Hynes said.

The fire began at the back of the house and spread toward the front, she said. Lynnwood fire crews heading to the scene to assist saw a column of smoke while crossing I-5 on 196th Street SW.

The house was a total loss, with damage estimated at $130,000, Hynes said. The two residents of the home were displaced.
