Mallory Ford, Marysville Getchell High School selected speaker
“What’s ahead?”
Since we were born we have been shown life isn’t as simple as we thought. When we were young we would sit down at a restaurant and would be given a paper kids menu that had a bunch of fun activities. On most every menu there was a maze, think of this maze as your life. We would begin by sitting up by ourselves, onto crawling, than taking our first steps, first day of school, and now to our last day as High Schoolers. We did all of this with the risk that we would fall down, bump our heads, scrape our knees, and make bad decisions. We have been taking risks that will change the overall path of our lives everyday.
During middle school we came to a fork in the road. We must choose a high school that would lead us to our dream. Marysville Getchell is where our dreams became reality. From the start we worked everyday towards a goal. This goal would not be possible without the environment that Marysville Getchell provided for us. Whether we went to SFE, ISC, Bio Med, or ACE we were taught that if we put our minds to it we can accomplish anything.
Many of us think we know what is next in our lives. We are going to be a veterinarian. A movie director. An engineer, or The CEO of a company. We will achieve the goals we set out for, that is what Marysville Getchell has taught us. No matter if we are going to a technical college, enlisting into the military, going to a community college, or a large University; we will get there. The tricky thing is that we truly don’t know the exact path we will take to get to our goals today. We can only see what is on the horizon, nothing past. We don’t know if our road to success is a straight path, or if it will go downhill, uphill, or take a sharp turn. We do know when asked “What’s next after High School?” we have a path and we will be confident in our future because we are Marysville Getchell Chargers. We will achieve our dreams.
Today is our new starting point, a new road to a dream. It is time for a new adventure.
