SEATTLE — King County prosecutors have accused a 24-year-old Skyway man of gouging out another man’s good eye in a dispute over rent.
Prosecutors say Michael Savage stuck his finger in his 49-year-old victim’s eye and pried it out of its socket. Savage is being held on $250,000 bail after being charged last week with first-degree assault.
The victim, Mark Senkbeil, lost one eye as a child and is now permanently blind.
Charging documents show he rented a trailer parked in the driveway of a home Savage shared with his partner. Savage allegedly rushed Senkbeil outside the trailer last month.
Prosecutors say Senkbeil was left bleeding with his eyeball hanging inches from his eye socket. A co-worker found him the next day after he had spent a night in his trailer unsure how to get help since he couldn’t see and didn’t have a phone.
Savage told a detective the victim attacked him.
