EVERETT — A man reportedly rammed a Washington State Patrol car during a police chase in Everett on Wednesday.
The man was sitting in a maroon Mazda on Broadway around 8 p.m. The car was partially blocking the right lane and was in reverse, according to a probable cause affidavit.
When a trooper walked up to the car, the driver, 35, reportedly punched it.
The suspect circled street blocks for several miles. He eventually pulled on to Everett Avenue and headed toward I-5.
The trooper attempted to stop the Mazda, which was traveling about 60 mph. The driver slammed on his brakes and swerved toward the patrol car.
The trooper avoided the collision.
The fleeing driver tried again. He struck the passenger side of the patrol car, causing the Mazda to lose control and stop.
He was arrested for investigation of driving while under the influence, second-degree assault, eluding police and reckless driving.
