A 23-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection with the stabbing of a Snohomish man on Thursday.
The victim, whose name was not released, was in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center on Friday, a nursing supervisor said.
Police responded to a call at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday reporting a stabbing in the 700 block of Avenue A in Snohomish. They found a man lying on the sidewalk bleeding from the head, according to Sgt. Rick Johnson. The man appeared to have been stabbed three times, including once in the back, Johnson said.
The officers’ investigation led them to believe that the assault took place in an apartment near where the man was found. Police believed a man had barricaded himself in the apartment, and the building was evacuated. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team was called to negotiate with the man. After a search warrant was obtained and police entered the residence, no one was found.
Based on further information, officers on Friday went to a house in eastern Snohomish County and arrested the 23-year-old man. No further details about the man were available.
