MARYSVILLE – Police have arrested a man in connection with a fire that destroyed a longtime berry stand Monday.
Witnesses reported the fire at the Dues Berry Farm stand about 6:30 a.m. and provided a detailed description of a man they saw walking away from the building.
Police found a man matching that description and arrested him for investigation of reckless burning. The stand, located in the 14000 block of Smokey Point Boulevard, has been used seasonally for about 40 years, police said. The damage was estimated at $1,000.
Arlington: Cars catch fire on tow truck
Three cars destined for the scrap yard caught fire Monday morning on a tow truck, officials said.
Crews were called to the 15800 block of 116th Street NE after welding work sparked the blaze, Snohomish County Fire District No. 17 Lt. Eric Cole said.
A van and a car were stacked on a flat-bed trailer and a third car was being towed, he said.
Sparks from the welding work apparently ignited a fuel leak from one of the cars, Cole said.
Firefighters put the fire out in about 10 minutes. The fire caused about $200 damage to the tow truck.
Man still in serious condition after crash
A man remained in serious condition at a Seattle hospital on Monday after an accident over the weekend.
The accident happened about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 13900 block of Burn Road, according to Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover.
The man reportedly lost control on a curve and his pickup rolled over.
He was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries to his head and abdominal area, Hover said.
A dog in the pickup was injured and treated by a veterinarian who drove by the crash.
