VANCOUVER, Wash. — Police say a man sought in a Vancouver stabbing death has been arrested after a daylong manhunt.
Police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said Jack R. Yancey, 57, was located late Thursday afternoon and questioned by detectives. Yancey was then booked into the Clark County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder.
The man is accused of fatally stabbing Gary L. Adams, 50, Wednesday night.
After a reported possible sighting of Yancey near a park, a SWAT team and extra officers were called to search an area west of the Clark County Courthouse.
Three schools in the area were temporarily locked down and some streets were briefly closed.
The Columbian reported that Yancey is a convicted sex offender with an extensive criminal record in Washington and Oregon.
