MARYSVILLE – Police say a Tulalip man charged with murder in a toddler’s death is now suspected of robbing a pharmacy on Tuesday.
James Fryberg, 21, is wanted on a $1 million warrant after he failed to show up for a court hearing Tuesday afternoon in the murder case.
A man matching Fryberg’s description held up a Haggen Pharmacy in Marysville about 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said. The suspect told pharmacy workers he had a gun and demanded prescription drugs.
Several witnesses later identified Fryberg from a photo lineup , Lamoureux said. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Fryberg is accused of beating his girlfriend’s son, 15-month-old Damoniko Ashby, to death while the boy’s mother was at work in May. Up until Tuesday, he was awaiting trial while free on bail.
Marysville police are asking the public to help find Fryberg.
“We do not want the public to intervene or to try to apprehend Fryberg, but rather ask that people call 911 to report his whereabouts,” Lamoureux said.
Fryberg is described as American Indian, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair.
