A Bothell firefighter was being held on $2 million bail Monday for investigation of assault, rape, kidnapping and other charges against his wife.
The woman escaped into some woods early Friday and later showed up bleeding and naked on a doorstep at a house on Storm Lake Road near Snohomish.
Under investigation is Richard Allen Kirk, 36, of Snohomish. He appeared briefly Monday in Everett District Court.
The woman, who was treated at a hospital, told Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives that divorce papers had been filed, and her husband had returned to the home Thursday to do some work on the house and pick up some personal items.
They got into an argument, and about 8 p.m. she took the children shopping to avoid a fight, according to court papers.
She returned home about 1:30 a.m. Friday and found Kirk still there. They talked for a while and he asked her to step into the garage, where there was a minivan with the back door open. He allegedly grabbed her, pulled her toward the van, and slapped or punched her in the face, according to documents.
He kept her from escaping and threatened her before driving away. He drove to the Storm Lake boat launch, where he flew into a rage, she told deputies. He allegedly continued to assault her, removed her clothing and raped her, documents say.
She eventually ran into the woods and hid until Kirk drove off, documents say.
The woman suffered a broken nose and numerous cuts, scratches and other injuries, papers say.
Deputies said Kirk was arrested on a domestic violence complaint in 2004 and was given a two-year deferred sentence.
